Episode 36 Increasing Milk Output While Pumping
There are so many different aspects to breastfeeding, but did you know that milk supply is really just a hormonal process?
Understanding the different hormones behind breastfeeding can help you to increase your milk supply while pumping. It also allows you to make sense of why you might be struggling, what your body actually needs (and exactly what it doesn’t need!) when breastfeeding and the mechanics of pumping in a way that’s right for you.
In today’s episode, host and lactation consultant Lo Nigrosh gives us the lowdown on how prolactin and oxytocin drive milk production, and why avoiding stress is so important to making milk.
Her advice includes creating as low-stressful an environment as possible by playing your favorite music, enjoying your favorite snack or warm drink and to only pump for as long as the milk is flowing.
Tune in to be empowered on your breastfeeding journey, and learn how to make the most of pumping!
