Episode 34 Why The Hospital Nurse and Your Pediatrician Might be Wrong About Breastfeeding
We have always been taught to trust healthcare providers because of the amount of education and schooling they go through to be put in those positions. However, when it comes to breastfeeding, most healthcare providers haven’t done more than a possible 3 hours of education and training on breastfeeding, but so many new mothers go to these healthcare providers for advice on breastfeeding and lactation.
This is unfortunate because so many mothers take this advice and will have issues breastfeeding their child and internalize those issues, when in fact, support from someone with extensive and proper training in breastfeeding and lactation could have made all the difference.
This is our invitation to you to ask your healthcare provider questions about their training before receiving advice, or to reach out to breastfeeding groups for support. These groups have dedicated their lives to learning about the physiology of breastfeeding and understand the nuances when it comes to lactation.
Tune in to learn how to know what advice to take, and where to reach out for advice best suited to you!
